This is a two-year associates degree program designed to meet the lower level (freshman and sophomore) course requirements of a four-year University for students majoring in Physical Education. Students enrolled in this program plan to transfer into a Teacher Education Program at a university to teach Physical Education to grades K-12.

  1. Learning Environment: Students will demonstrate foundational knowledge of how to create safe, healthy, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate learning environments that support diverse learners by applying an asset-based mindset and recognizing systems of inequity.
  2. Instruction: Students will apply educational theories and standards to design equitable, culturally responsive, and technology-integrated instructional strategies that scaffold learning from students’ prior knowledge and affirm their identities.
  3. Instructional Assessment: Students will identify and evaluate ethical, accessible, and developmentally appropriate assessment practices that minimize bias, reflect learner diversity, and inform instructional decision-making.
  4. Collaboration and Communication: Students will develop introductory skills in collaborating with families, colleagues, and community partners to enhance educational opportunities and advocate for equity and inclusion.
  5. Professional Expectations and Growth: Students will critically reflect on personal biases, ethical responsibilities, and professional goals to support their growth as culturally responsive educators who engage in continuous learning and advocacy.
