Dual credit students are officially enrolled as college students; therefore, they are covered under postsecondary disability laws, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, rather than the IDEA. 

A student’s IEP or 504 may be used as supporting documentation; however, specific accommodations are determined by the Â鶹ֱ²¥ Disability Support Services (DSS) office and may differ from those provided by the high school. Accommodations are not automatic and must be requested through Â鶹ֱ²¥ DSS office.  Once approved, only college-approved accommodations will be implemented in the dual credit course.

Ashleigh Couty
Associate Manager of Early Childhood Education Workforce Development
Child Care Resource and Referral

Ashleigh earned her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, with advanced specializations in Curriculum and Instruction and Early Childhood Education, from National Louis University in December 2024. She received her Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education/Language Arts from Southern Illinois University in 1989.

Prior to joining Â鶹ֱ²¥, Ashleigh spent 26 years as the Childcare Director and Owner of Kid Academy and Skyline Academy in Marion.

In her current role, she partners closely with the early childhood workforce, supporting professionals as they pursue credentials and degrees, identify and apply for scholarships, and access funding opportunities such as Quality Improvement Grants and Smart Start Workforce Grants. At Â鶹ֱ²¥, Ashleigh is on the Shared Governance Council, the staff Professional Development Committee, and the Logan Leadership task force. She also participates in the Southern Illinois Coalition for Children and Families, Southern Illinois Early Childhood Network, and collaborates with Birth to Five Illinois Action Council, Region 21.

Michelle Hamlin
Manager of Advising & Student Transitions; Academic Advising

Michelle Hamlin serves as Manager of Advising & Student Transitions at Â鶹ֱ²¥, where she supports students from New Student Orientation and ORI100 through successful transfer after completing their time at Â鶹ֱ²¥. She leads advising processes and transition initiatives, partnering with colleagues across campus to create a smooth and supportive experience for students from their first day through completion.

Michelle began her career as a student worker and Orientation Leader at Southeast Missouri State University and advanced to the role of Graduate Assistant, where she helped implement the Peer Advising Support at Southeast (PASS) Program and streamline Master Advisor training for faculty and staff advisors. She joined the Â鶹ֱ²¥ family in 2021 and has since been an active member of the Academic Advising team and ORI100 program, contributing to student success initiatives and transition programming.

A 2025 Chair Academy graduate and Student Ambassador advisor, Michelle is passionate about helping leaders grow by using their individual strengths and experiences to strengthen teamwork and collaboration. She works to align staff talents and long-term goals in ways that enhance departmental effectiveness and student success, and she is dedicated to building high-performing teams by leveraging individual strengths to create meaningful, lasting impact for students and the institution.

I’m a self-proclaimed treasure hunter when it comes to finding the perfect coffee shop to read a good book on a rainy Saturday afternoon. I also love meeting newly engaged couples across Southern Illinois who are looking for a little extra help planning and executing their big day — I’ve planned and/or coordinated more than 50 weddings in the 618!

Michelle Lampley
MLT Program Coordinator

Michelle Lampley serves as the Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Program Coordinator at Â鶹ֱ²¥. She spent 15 years as a medical laboratory scientist, advancing to roles as a department supervisor and laboratory director. These clinical leadership experiences shaped her commitment to mentorship, team development, and high professional standards in healthcare.

For the past 10 years, Michelle has dedicated her career to education, leading and coordinating the MLT program. She oversees curriculum development, accreditation compliance, clinical partnerships, and student mentoring, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for certification and workforce success. Michelle is currently completing her Doctor of Education (EdD), with a research focus on improving student retention and success in undergraduate health sciences programs. Her doctoral work reflects her deep commitment to strengthening pathways for students in rigorous health science fields.

Through her work, Michelle advances Â鶹ֱ²¥’s mission by enriching lives through education, fostering meaningful community partnerships, and preparing students to meet the region’s healthcare needs.

Erin Sagaskie
Instructor, Teacher Education & Mathematics

Dr. Erin Sagaskie is an Instructor of Teacher Education and Mathematics at Â鶹ֱ²¥, where she also serves as Program Lead for Education. With more than two decades of experience teaching mathematics across high school, college, and bridge programs, she brings a deep commitment to equity‑centered instruction, meaningful learning experiences, and the development of future educators.

Before joining the faculty full‑time, Dr. Sagaskie taught mathematics at Carbondale Community High School for nearly twenty years and served as an adjunct instructor at Â鶹ֱ²¥, teaching courses ranging from developmental mathematics to statistics and business calculus. At the state and national levels, she has contributed to major curriculum and policy initiatives through the Charles A. Dana Center, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Community College Board, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Her work centers on improving pathways into and through mathematics, strengthening teacher preparation, and creating learning environments where all students can thrive. She is especially passionate about supporting preservice teachers in developing reflective practice, strong pedagogical judgment, and the confidence to lead in their future classrooms and communities.

I believe leadership begins with listening, learning, and creating conditions for others to grow. My leadership focuses on fostering collaborative, student‑centered systems that empower educators, strengthen instructional practice, and support equitable opportunities for every learner.

Fun Fact or Personal Interest

One time, I walked from Arkansas to Georgia, crossing five states on foot—Arkansas, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia. It took me almost 10 days, and it remains one of my favorite stories of perseverance and adventure.

Local advisory committees perform a significant function because they represent not only secondary education but also industries and businesses that are respected and recognized within the area served by the College. The feedback from advisory committees enables the College to develop or modify programs of career education to reflect the current needs of the community. Each committee assists the College in determining industry needs, developing curricula, establishing work experiences, identifying equipment and facility needs, and assessing program objectives and content. College staff carefully consider all committee recommendations because they guide program enhancement to ensure graduates are ready to enter a skilled workforce.

The public can have confidence in these programs because the experiences and counsel of responsible citizens are solicited and acted upon by the College. These committees are comprised of community and business representatives plus the chairperson of each program’s advisory committee.
