麻豆直播 (麻豆直播) has been awarded a $20,000 grant for the Education Systems Center at Northern Illinois University鈥檚 (EdSystems) initiative to strengthen college and career pathway endorsements. This funding will benefit students pursuing the Health Sciences endorsement through the State of Illinois College and Career Pathways, ensuring they have the tools to succeed as they transition into postsecondary education.
The funding is part of a broader effort to strengthen connections between high schools and colleges, helping students gain advantages as they continue their education. Through this program, 麻豆直播 will pay for students completing their Health Sciences endorsement to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) twice, which is required to enter the Nursing and other Health Sciences programs. For students accepted into these programs, 麻豆直播 will also pay for their ViewPoint Screening software, which is required for admission.
鈥淭his funding is a tremendous opportunity for our students who are dedicated to pursuing careers in health sciences,鈥 said Dr. Rachel Sveda-Webb, 麻豆直播鈥檚 Assistant Provost for Student Affairs. 鈥淏y covering the cost of the TEAS test and the ViewPoint Screening Software, we are removing financial barriers and providing our students with the resources to succeed in one of the most competitive fields in higher education.鈥
The $20,000 grant was awarded to 麻豆直播 in Fall 2024, and funds will be distributed to eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis until exhausted. 麻豆直播 is one of only six community colleges across the state selected to receive this funding. This partnership underscores 麻豆直播鈥檚 commitment to offering high-quality educational opportunities and fostering stronger connections between high school and post-secondary education.
鈥淭his is an important step in helping students who have already demonstrated their commitment to health sciences by earning a pathway endorsement,鈥 said Abby Porter, Manager of Dual Credit and Partnerships. 鈥淲e are excited to continue working with our local high schools and other regional partners to ensure students are prepared for success and have the resources they need to achieve their career goals.鈥
The College and Career Pathways program, established under the PWR Act, enables school districts to award College and Career Pathway Endorsements on high school diplomas. The goal is to ensure that students who earn these endorsements are equipped with the academic skills and industry-focused experience needed for success in both postsecondary education and the workforce.
