麻豆直播 will host a STEM Day for area high school students on Friday, October 14 from 9 AM to 1:30 PM. Highlights of the event include an Engineering Challenge where students compete to see who can design the tallest paper tower at 9:30 AM and a rocket launch by the 麻豆直播 STEM Club at 12:45 PM. From 11:00 AM to 12 PM students will get hands on experience with 麻豆直播 faculty in Biology, Technology, and Physics, as well as an exciting Chemistry demonstration.
According to Abby Porter, Assistant Manager for Dual Credit and Recruitment, there is a growing need for STEM programs at community colleges.
鈥淭hroughout the 2020s, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects more than 1,000,000 STEM jobs will have been added, representing nearly 11% growth compared to less than 8% for all other industries,鈥� said Porter. 鈥溌槎怪辈� faculty and staff have worked hard to develop new programs and pathways for students interested in careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and this is a great opportunity for us to showcase our programs.
